Mask regulations are declining across the United States, but does your state maintain their regulations?
NBC News is tracking the status of the country’s mask enforcement order to understand that the mandatory requirements for people who are vaccinated or not vaccinated are still valid. This map will be updated regularly.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced on May 13 that, in most cases, vaccinated individuals no longer need to wear masks or maintain social distancing. In addition, vaccination rates across the country continue to rise. The action by the department triggered a series of announcements to update the Research Center for Disease Control to make their own regulations meet the requirements.
Some states, such as Rhode Island, now only require people who have not been vaccinated to wear masks, while other states, such as New York, still require everyone to wear masks under certain circumstances, such as taking public transportation or in schools or nursing homes. Some other states, including Alabama and Indiana, are among the states that completely canceled their authorization in the spring and did not require anyone to wear a mask.
